Gas Production Company Newsletter - Issue #2

Summer is Here!

Happy summer, everyone!  We hope you are enjoying your summer as much as we are here at GPC.  Summer tends to be quieter around here, so we take advantage of that and spruce up on our training and maintenance.  Our GPC technicians have been busy expanding their knowledge by participating in certificated training classes as well as doing some in house cross over training.  One of our goals this summer is to have our technicians be as versatile as possible so we can better serve our customers this upcoming winter. Along with training classes, we have also been busy tuning up our trucks and sprucing up our tank inventory, so our tanks are ready to set for new customers.  We have also participated in a few fun events to help support our community (see photos).  So far, it’s been a busy but productive summer.  Please keep checking our Facebook page and website for current specials and up-to-date information.  Thank you again for the many years of support and have a safe and wonderful summer.

5 STARS – I would like to compliment Dennis Baney and his partner for going above and beyond in making sure we felt totally satisfied with their efforts 7/8/24. Thank you very much K. L.

5 STARS – Luke and his assistant came to our home for updates to regulator. They we both very respectful, friendly and efficient. I told them to please be careful in my flower bed, right where they had to work. To my surprise not one flower stepped on or disturb by their presents, thank you so very much! Great people to represent your company! Satisfied customer!

5 STARS – Gas Production’s HAVC are quick and problem solvers. Monday the hottest day of the year our central air quit working. Called that morning and was able to get to us that early afternoon. Ethan quickly knew what was wrong and was able to get it back working. We have had excellent service when the furnace or Central air has went down. Would definitely recommend Gas Production for any HAVC services.

Safety Items You Should Know

Before Grilling:

Inspect Your Propane Tank, to Make Sure:

  • There’s no dents, bulges or cracks.
  • There’s no rust or pitted metal.
  • The tank’s foot ring, “collar” at the top or valve cover is not bent.
  • The Overfill Prevention Device (OPD) valve is intact.
  • The hose is not dried out or cracked.

The connection points between hose, regulator and cylinder are not loose

Prepare for a Leak Test:

  • Do the leak test outside where well-ventilated and away from flames, electrical or gas appliances.
  • Do not smoke when doing a leak test.
  • Get a spray bottle with soapy water.

How to Do a Leak Test Before You Grill:

  1. Test your propane tank each time you have it refilled or exchanged as well as if your tank sits a long time unused.
  2. Turn grill burners knobs OFF.
  3. Turn propane tank OFF.
  4. Connect the hose to both the propane tank and the grill.
  5. Turn the propane tank valve ON, just a quarter turn.
  6. Spray the soapy solution on:
    1. on-off valve
    2. regulator
    3. anywhere the hose connects
    4. on your propane tank (see image right)

If soap bubbles grow bigger and pop, and you smell a rotten-egg smell, TURN OFF the tank immediately as it means there’s a gas leak in the system.

DO NOT USE or move the propane cylinder.

Contact your propane gas supplier or your fire department.

If NO soap bubbles grow, there’s no leak.

PROPANE TANKS ARE GOOD FOR 12 YEARS FROM DATE OF MANUFACTURE.PROPANE CYLINDERS MUST BE PREQUALIFIED OR REPLACED EVERY 5 OR 10 YEARS, DEPENDING ON THE CYLINDER TYPE, CONDITION, AND PREVIOUS REQUALIFICATION METHOD.

When it comes to gas appliances, safety is a top priority. If you smell gas in your home, follow these steps:

  1. NO FLAMES OR SPARKS. Immediately put out all smoking materials and other open flames. Do not operate lights, appliances, telephones, or cell phones. Flames or sparks from these sources can trigger an explosion or a fire.
  2. LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY. Get everyone out of the building or area where you suspect gas is leaking.
  3. SHUT OFF THE GAS. Turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank if it is safe to do so. To close the valve, turn it to the right (clockwise).
  4. REPORT THE LEAK. From a neighbor’s home or other nearby building away from the gas leak, call your propane retailer right away. If you can’t reach your propane retailer, call 911 or your local fire department.
  5. DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING OR AREA until your propane retailer, emergency responder, or qualified service technician determines that it is safe to do so.
  6. GET YOUR SYSTEM CHECKED. Before you attempt to use any of your propane appliances, your propane retailer or a qualified service technician must check your entire system to ensure that it is leak-free.

A/C Needs Cleaning!

KEEP YOUR A/C UNIT HEALTHY THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER MONTHS….

Is your air conditioner looking like a forgotten relic, coated in a layer of dust or cottonwood fur? If so, it’s definitely time for summer maintenance! A dirty AC unit like the one in the image to the left works much harder to cool your home, leading to higher energy bills and potential breakdowns on the hottest days.

Regular summer maintenance of your air conditioning unit is crucial to ensuring its optimal performance and efficiency. A well-maintained AC unit cools your home more effectively, lowers your energy bills, and prevents unexpected breakdowns on the hottest days.

Improved Efficiency: A dirty AC unit works harder to cool your home, leading to higher energy bills. Summer service cleans your unit, improving efficiency and lowering costs.

Enhanced Comfort: Regular maintenance ensures your AC runs smoothly, providing consistent and reliable cooling throughout the summer.

Additional Benefits of Summer Servicing:

  • Preventative Maintenance: Catching small issues during routine maintenance can prevent them from turning into major problems later, saving you money on repairs and replacements in the long run.
  • Improved Air Quality: A dirty AC unit can circulate dust, pollen, and other allergens throughout your home. Servicing your unit can help improve indoor air quality, which is especially beneficial for allergy sufferers.
